چکیده

This paper presents a methodology we envision for detecting and resolving feature interactions. The methodology is based on a building block approach, in which features and their operating contexts are building blocks that can be composed in any combination to detect and resolve their interactions. This methodology is applicable to the phases in the software life cycle that address the creation of new features such as requirements, specification, and verification. By creating a well defined process for determining feature compatibility, with clearly defined steps and appropriate techniques/tools, it will then be possible to systematically model features, and detect and resolve interactions among features. The primary goal is to provide a support environment which feature designers can use to specify and verify the requirements of a feature, detect its possible interactions with other features, and finally verify the resolution of any detected interactions. As an ongoing effort at Bellcore, the paper also reports our current status of experiments with this methodology.

Calculating Magnetic Permeability Response of a Conducting Square Ring Structure

In the present work, we investigate the tunability of the magnetic response of a new structure. A lattice of periodically arranged close-packed square conducting rings has been studied for this purpose. Here, instead of enhancing the magnetic activity via resonance, like in split-ring resonators, we concentrate on the analysis of the interactions between these rings. The core idea is to design ...

Identification of Genetic Polymorphism Interactions in Sporadic Alzheimer’s Disease Using Logic Regression

Objectives: Genetic polymorphism interactions are among the important factors in affliction with complex diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. The important goal of genetic association studies is to identify a combination of polymorphisms and measure their importance in increasing the risk of occurrence of such diseases. In this study, feature selection approach of logic regression was used to ide...

Using aspect-oriented state machines for detecting and resolving feature interactions

Composing different features in a software system may lead to conflicting situations. The presence of one feature may interfere with the correct functionality of another feature, resulting in an incorrect behavior of the system. In this work we present an approach to manage feature interactions. A formal model, using Finite State Machines (FSM) and Aspect-Oriented (AO) technology, is used to sp...

Feature-oriented Programming: a Case Study Using the Smv Language

The feature-interaction problem is the problem of detecting and resolving undesired interactions between features of systems. As such, it is a special case of the problem of managing inconsistencies during the software development phase. We argue that the feature-interaction problem is not solvable in general, since there is no a priori distinction between desired and undesired interactions. We...

Determining Effective Features for Face Detection Using a Hybrid Feature Approach

Detecting faces in cluttered backgrounds and real world has remained as an unsolved problem yet. In this paper, by using composition of some kind of independent features and one of the most common appearance based approaches, and multilayered perceptron (MLP) neural networks, not only some questions have been answered, but also the designed system achieved better performance rather than the pre...
